Dragon Riding

Breathing in. The satisfaction of a fine meal. The fullness of shared meditation in a trolly-car-turnaround-station-turned-zendo. The intimacy of an early turning in.

Breathing out. The slow pace of students with learning disabilities, working to complete a final project with all of the supports I designed—and time running out. A misplaced work macbook, with no leads. A bone-deep fatigue.

All part of the way.

Frank, I really like how you create a harmonious balance in this piece.

This to me tells me how there is small successes (and rewards) for all the struggle of everyday life.

To me, this reads as a more realistic invitation or a mantra, to do the days and the nights.

Frank, it was good to see you at the LIVE event today and to get some of the background info on the poem. I missed that part about the missing macbook. Hoping it turned up by now?

Thanks, Lisa! Great to see you, too.

No, it hasn’t. But it’s a work-issued one, and my AP believes it will show up. Here’s hoping!

Frank, there’s so much packed into the Haibun, little hints deliciously given, and other themes so explicitly stated, two halves complement each other in a reality observation for me.

One breath at a time for such “dragon riding” days. Lovely, Frank.
