Ultreya!

What a National Poetry Month this has been, right, haijin? Too bad your humble host contended with life, and missed a couple of weeks of fresh challenges.

Well, one is here now. & what a one! They’ve finally hit peak here in my corner of New York’s Backyard. They’re luscious, and cottonball full. They’re the embodiment of beauty, and yet of ephemorality.

I’m talking about (Late) cherry blossoms!

Blooming through the groves at the New York Botanical Garden. Flowering in full along the residential streets all around. Luscious in their deep shades of pink. But come the seasonal winds, and their petals fall, filling the grass beneath their spreading trunks.

How so full of Yumen and sabi!

This week, write the haikai poem of your choice (haiku, senryu, tanka, kyoka, haibun, haiga, renga, etc.) that alludes to [Late] Cherry Blossom (osozakura).

As always:

1. write the haikai poem of your choice.
2. post the link of your post to Mister Linky.
3. pingback by posting the link to the challenge on your site.
4. read and comment on other contributors’ posts.

Savor the remaining blossoms while you can, haijin!
