A Dragon’s Visit

Why are you trembling?

Did you not yearn for me? See my blue and turquoise scales glitter in the sun. Hear the wind whistle around my sleak, serpentine form. Feel the rain I bring soak your naked skin.

Haven’t you wanted me? Did you not crave power? Were you not thirsting for control? What is this hesitation of yours?

I and my kind were ancient as you evolved up from primordial chaos and speciation. I remember how you remembered to bow, and offered fitting respect. But then you grew into your own, didn’t you? You replaced bowing with standing your grown, respect with disregard. But you always wanted what was ours in abundance.

So here I am. Behold me, now, in all my wind and water glory! I, whom you call a dragon of the east, an undisputed master of the storm, float before you now!

& you lie, face down, like a stone, lifeless from shock to behold in the flesh what you yearned for in the spirit.

How typical. How disappointing, yet unsurprising.

Excellent, Frank! I love the dragon’s reflections on our duality of desire and expectation.

Wise words of warning. The dragon sleeps no longer.

A sardonic and quite creepy dragon’s visit, Frank, in the dragon’s voice, which I could hear in my mind. I love how you included the blue and turquoise scales glittering in the sun, and that it’s a wind and water dragon of the east.

HI Frank, a deliciously dark and mythical take.
