#Haikai Challenge #6 (11/4/17): Saints and Souls #haiku #senryu #haibun #tanka

Here’s to last week’s participating poets, for their contributions to #haikai challenge #5 (10/28/17)–Halloween:

Jilly–Trick or…

Charley–Troiku–Night Fire

revivedwriter–Halloween

qbit–All Hallow’s Eve

Onward, now, to this week’s challenge:

It’s November fourth. November 1st and 2nd collectively have been called the Catholic Days of the Dead. November the first is the Feast of All Saints in the Catholic Tradition. November the Second is the Feast of All Souls. What better heterodox kigo could there be, then, but saints and souls? Your mission then, should you choose to accept it, is to compose a haikai poem–haiku, senryu, haibun, tanka, renga, or kyoka–that includes, or references, saints and souls.

As always:

Here’s how the challenge works:
1. Write a haikai poem (haiku, senryu, haibun, tanka, renga, or kyoka)
2. Ping-back to the Challenge by placing a link to it in your post.
3. Comment with a link to your post.

Write on, poets! Until “The Saints go marching in…” 🙂

Charlie challenged me to post post-apocalyptic Haiku. I can’t get this quite to the level of last week’s “tuberculosis Christmas”, but it is my best shot.
