Our Standing Ground… a #haibun #quadrille for .@dVersePoets

Where is our root?

On shifting fashions,

like that house built on sand,

awaiting the tumolt

and inevitable ruin?

Or on authentic sense,

that citadel founded on rock,

indifferent to buffeting winds

and punishing waters?

autumn rain

a swollen brook eroding

a well-worn rock

Mish hosts dVerse Poets Pub’s Quadrille #45–rock tonight!

  1. One of the few constants in life is change, the short half-life of fashion or slang. The older I become, the more difficulty I have adapting, shifting my comfort zone.

  2. Your poem is built on nothing less…. Brilliant write about a rock that withstands the onslaught of waves; while we are inundated by the latest wave… the latest wave… the latest wave. Well done!
