A Pre-Appointment Meditation

early

for an appointment

Starbucks stop

what an irony

if I end up late

overcast

Caramel Macchiato

for the chill

conversations with friends

I used to have so often

afternoon aches

all the energy

I used to have

miles to go

Before I sleep

And here I am with drooping eyelids! No coffee for me or I’d be climbing the walls! I love the nod to Robert Frost, Frank.

I could hear the song, Miles and miles and miles to go. Starbucks time never too early for me. Enjoyed very much.

I really like how you’ve spaced this one, Frank. The lines flow like thoughts. I can relate to the conversations I used to have, and energy using up my afternoons.

Funny you should mention possibility of being late due to stop for coffee…that happens t me too often being early and losing track of time when I stop and ending up late…lol

It is never too early. nor too late for Starbucks, but yes a slow barista has made me late for meetings.

I have found myself late when making a quick side trip. Somehow, I ended up in traffic. ( hiding my Dunkin Donuts coffee cup)

stopping for coffee that may include conversation is lovely, started out early but ending up possibly late is so true when we value human connection – love the Frost snuck in

There’s something in the pacing of the poem that makes me think of someone nodding off to sleep. I like it ๐Ÿ™‚

Those “time to kill” moments can get away with us sometimes. I like the format of your poem….little compartments of pondering thoughts.
