Onward!

It’s still January! We’re just settling into this new year. That means it’s the perfect time for another New Year Kigo! And the raven (or crow) is on my mind! Consider Odin’s ravens, who witness the world and bring him its news. Or the ravens that fed the prophet Elijah during his flight across the desert. Not to mention the many trickster tales from Native American traditions.

So this week, write the haikai poem of your choice (haiku, senryu, haibun, tanka, haiga, renga) that states or references the first raven or crow cry (hatsugarasu).

As always:

Hereโ€™s how the challenge works:

1. write the haikai poem of your choice.
2. post the link of your post to Mister Linky.
3. pingback by posting the link to the challenge on your site.
4. read and comment on other contributorsโ€™ posts.

Enjoy the cry of raven or crow this week, haijin. Good Hunting!

I must have had the Raven on my mind but forgot the link up – I’ve linked late.
I was looking for prompt 69 which isn’t up yet … and discovered I hadn’t linked here:

Yes, I havenโ€™t shook this cough yet. Wound up couch-ridden all day yesterday. I hope to have the next challenge up later today, health permitting.

No rush… Heal first. I actually tried my hand at perhaps a different haibun… You might enjoy:
