This March Madness: a #writephoto #haibun

Sunlight from an unclouded sky radiates the snow-covered lawns of the neighborhood. This winter that gently bleated in its youth roars in its dotage.

Nevertheless, the gates of seasonal change stand ajar, as the vernal equinox approaches. Soon the blossoms will unfold. The botanical gardens will yield their bloom. The morning air will echo with birdsong.

Until then, Mad March continues to have its way. No doubt the Toro snow-blower will sound again before it’s through.

Have you heard the saying for March ‘in like a lamb, out like a lion’ and visa, versa?

You bet! And what an “out like a lion” we have here! ๐Ÿ™‚

Haibun is your forte. “winter that gently bleated in its youth roars in its dotage” and “the gates of seasonal change stand ajar,” are beautiful poetic lines.

I love the gates and “winter that gently bleated in its youth roars in its dotage.”
Here it seems like it was back and forth all winter. Last year I remember it was really mild–spring like in February–then we had a blizzard or two in March.

Your haibun gives me a vivid picture of what it must be like to live in a cold climate. It sounds difficult yet achingly beautiful at the same time.

If it is warm the snow can be beautiful, but I don’t think that is how this March is happening.

Wonderful, Frank. You paint a graphic picture of a winter very different from here, where the cherries are already in bloom.

You realize tha itโ€™s a plot. Weathe is so unpredictable and challenging this time of year so we wonโ€™t complain as much when the Summer sun beats us to a sweaty pulp. Good luck with those muscles. Ben Gay works wonders… ๐Ÿ™‚

Wonderful in its message and brevity; like others I love the weather line at the end of the first stanza. We had a foot 0f snow 3 weeks ago. It’s clear, cold and sunny now, but Mad March still might have some chills in store for us.

So swift are the changes… and here they can carry over into April actually… happy that no neighbor has a snowblower… her we are still using shovels

Yeah, April is too long to endure snow in New York–except for those living in the mountains and enjoying the ski season. Thanks for reading! ๐Ÿ™‚
