Waiting for the Solstice: a #Quadrille #Haibun

Five days before winter solstice. Another winter storm bears down. Snow and ice promise a messy commute. But soon, the last glow of the shortest day will shine. Then the dark of the longest night will follow.

Ooooh! Love the descriptions and the final three lines! A fresh gloomy poem with the right amount of glow.

I’ve noticed more lights in windows this year than in previous years. We are all looking to brighten the dark. (K)

Lovely, Frank. The good news is that after that winter solstice, the days slowly begin to get longer. And also, that Christmas lights and candles illuminate our dark nights here.

We do need the glow of lights to take us through these dark days… you cannot imagine how dark the days are at the moment.
