An Equinoxal Experience

A blanket of clouds eclipsed the sun. The temperature dropped accordingly. & the restaurant we intended to have dinner in had no open tables for two hours.

Tired from our day of sightseeing Rochester, we followed our sorry-not-sorry host’s directions to a Sushi/Ramen restaurant located in the same mall. This one had plenty of seats. The front door to the patio lay open, so we felt the cool draft of the cooling day.

Sumptuous hot appetizers, followed by luscious designer rollsโ€”with only a slight mishap of our server neglecting to put in Mira’s orderโ€”and we were full.

Just in time to step into the sudden night that somehow appeared. One that would last as long as the departed day.

Indeed! A wonderful meal to cap an excellent day.

And then we visited the House of Guitars! But thatโ€™s a tale for another time.

This was so visual for me. And I really enjoyed how you ended the prose with the sudden night. Light pollution is a real problem here. My neighbors are so scared of getting robbed (with good reason) that they all turn on horribly bright lights at night. I can barely see a star.

sushi sounds like excellent replacement dining. It’s funny how at this time of year the weather seems to cool in the blink of an eye. Wonderful haibun.

Thอis Haอibun beautอifully captures the essence of a spontaneous dอinอing experอience and the shอiftอing of seasons. The mentอion of lอight pollutอion and the Autumnal Equอinox adds a thoughtful touch, remอindอing us of the transอient nature of tอime and the อinterplay between human actอivอity and nature’s rhythms. It’s a compellอing snapshot of a day turnอing อinto nอight, both อin terms of daylอight and the changอing season. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ˜Š BTW, I don’t fอind your Haอiku is perfect (4-7-3). ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thanks, Pankaj! I appreciate your thorough reflection. Regarding the haiku, 5-7-5 has not been a defining trait of haiku in English for a long time. ๐Ÿ˜‰I don’t sweat the syllables: if one happens to come out 5-7-5, so be it. If not, then it’s usually in the short-long-short form.
