Free-soaring Folly

How long will free-soarers ignore the fearful, trilling songs of unknown longing from their caged compatriots?

How long will free-soarers fly on winds assured off the backs of their caged bretheren?

How long before those free-soarers alight on a tree rooted in just soil, and find themselves permenantly perched, while their caged compatriots fly free?

a wind

blowing wherever

it wills

a psalm of justice

soon to be sung

Iโ€™m so glad you made it, Frank, with your โ€˜Free-soaring Follyโ€™ โ€“ a delightful fricative alliteration that sounds like wings! The question format is very effective. I love the image you chose as illustration, which is linked to the history of Norwich and is why our football team is called The Canaries. In the mid-16th century, Dutch and Flemish migrants known as ‘The Strangersโ€™ arrived in Norwich with caged canaries. Most of them were weavers, who further moved to Worstead, just down the road from me. We still have Worstead weavers who are now resident next door to our village hall.
