Incendiary Transcendence

Avocado

How that hard, green vegetable forms the mushy medium of a dip so iconic.

mashed up

to its consistency in

the first month with sleet

a dour chill running through

this November air

Jalapeño

Such a fierce and fiery red pepper to “kick it up a notch…”

Diced up

and poured out like a

late winter garden

an unseasonal warmth

arising unbidden

Cilantro

For who can resist the lemony, peppery, pungence of it?

minced down

as small as it gets, this

blanket by the fire

unsettling temperature

a pendulum swing

Serrano

for when an ordinary culinary incineration isn’t enough!

expiation

for all of our sins—

guacamole

I like how it really ends with the fulfilment of the guacomole, each part into completeness

Frank you took the dVerse and TankaTuesday themes and ran with them. You’re also making me hungry now. I do love guac, chili peppers, and cilantro on my Mexican food. YUM.
