Cheering Down the Darkness: a #Quadrille #haibun

So little to celebrate. Raging wildfires. Persecuted refugees. Genocidal shootings.ย  A hate-frothing darkness threatens to swallow all. For what can we cheer?

ย

That light shines in the darkness. That Love drives out hate. That we can.

    YES:
“That light shines in the darkness. That Love drives out hate. That we can.”

YES. We can only do what we can do. But we can do much, in Love.

The succinctness of this…feels like a โ€˜candle piercing the gloomโ€™.

I hope that’s true Frank. I sm losing faith my friend. Below here is a haiku I wrote in hope on September 12, 2001. Sadly, our country is in even more dire straits today. Horrifying!

    one can penetrate
    the pitch black of ignorance
    with love’s single light

No matter how darkness encroaches, light remains. Even a single ray shines out within it. Your beautiful haiku testifies to this, and that testimony stands. Thanks for reading! ๐Ÿ˜€

I think this is why I love Hanukkah though I’m not religious. It’s that light in the darkness. If we lose hope, we have nothing.

I think we need darkness to see the light… I just hope it doesn’t have the get pitch dark before we see the lone candle.
