Crescent
moon-blown ripples
on evening tide
how these tear-culled thoughts
arise each brightening night
First Quarter
a scythe-eyed glimps across
an empty road
how this dust-tongued mouth forms
the right word at the wrong time
Gibbous
a bell-voiced cry
no one hears
how one dark-vowelled word
ends a measure of joy
Full Moon
a tide-looped April walk
drying tears
how a heaven-circling hope
comes from letting go

Frank you have taken Wales to the Orient and kept the spirit so beautifully – superb use of the prompt and now I shall always see the Gibbous moon as:
“a bell-voiced cry
no one hears”

What a great renga on the cycle of the moon, and maybe something more hopeful in the fulfillment in the light of the full moon.

I imagine a lonely soul, taking nightly walks, moon as companion, drowning in sorrow, finally releasing hope to the mercy of a kind “overseer.” It’s an intimate portrait of sorrow that took skill to compose.

A reminder to think before speaking. Hoping for forgiveness…
Love the photo of the moonglade (which by the way is a real word).

I like how the set includes all phases of the moon…I like the hope I feel especially when I read the last two. Nicely done Frank.
