A kayak on a placid river.
A leaf afloat on a babbling brook.
A rock smoothed over years by a rushing stream.
A twig carried away in a creek.
Let running water have its course.
It will anyway.

Was that to be a “placid” river? You are the master of brevity, Frank, a ton of meaning in a soup can.

Indeed, Glenn. Thanks for the catch! I make more typos than I care to think about these days! 🤣

So many images of resistance and the idea that the water will have its way. Stunning, Frank. Enjoyed.

It will have its way, how true. I’ve always been fascinated with weathered stones in a creek bed.. I often took one home and painted a message on it.

Frank, there’s not much I love more than water. How beautiful this is, and I want to just sit and enjoy it awhile.

Such a wonderful extended metaphor for life, Frank. I definitely feel the Japanese poetic effect in this.

Very well done Frank. I love your poem… yes, let the water have its course, it well anyway… We so often think we are in control, but it really is the earth that will finally have its say!

Love the matter of factly way of expressing the various instances of water movements, Frank! Water will eventually find its own level, yes!

These lines are so very true. And the fact that you’ve converted a quadrille into a haibun is amazing! 🙂
